Adamstown War Memorial

13 May 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—It was an honour to recently attend the Adamstown War Memorial rededication service to mark the memorial's relocation to Adamstown Park as its permanent home. Originally unveiled on the corner of Glebe and Brunker Roads by Mrs Mary McMaster, the memorial carries deep local history and significance. Mrs McMaster's son, Allan Stewart McMaster, was killed in action in France on 9 April 1917 during the First World War. The monument was first erected to honour the soldiers from Adamstown who served their country and has stood as a symbol of remembrance for generations. Over the years, the memorial was relocated from its original site to the Adamstown RSL Club on Brunker Road. It was later rededicated in 1960 and again in 1987 to commemorate service across additional conflicts and recognise 50 years of community service by the Adamstown RSL. Following the closure of the club, the memorial once again required a new home. Now proudly positioned on public land in Adamstown Park, the memorial has finally found its forever home, where the community can continue to reflect, remember and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served Australia.
