ANZAC Day Services in Charlestown

06 May 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—It was my honour to join many Charlestown residents at ANZAC Day memorial services around the electorate on Friday 25 April. For generations, this date has held a special place in the hearts of Australians and New Zealanders, as we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of the ANZACs who landed at Gallipoli, and of all Australian servicemen and -women who have served our country in conflicts and peacekeeping operations since. My thanks to all those who organised and took in part in the Dawn Services at the Cardiff RSL and the Dudley War Memorial, the morning service at the First World War Memorial in Adamstown; and the service at Lions Park in Charlestown. It is always inspiring to see local students take part in the services. It is heartening to know that, 110 years after the landings in Gallipoli, that the light of ANZAC is being kept in memory by new generations of Australians. I also want to acknowledge the returned servicemen and -women who attended for their service to our country. Lest We Forget.
