Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Hunter Sports High School, which has been named Australian School of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Australian Education Awards. This is a remarkable achievement, as Hunter Sports High is the first school to ever claim the award twice in the event's eight-year history. The school also won Secondary School of the Year (Government) ahead of seven other public schools, while Principal Rachel Byrne was a finalist for Principal of the Year (Government). These accolades are a reflection of the innovative and student-centred approach that sets Hunter Sports High apart. The school runs around 15 different academy pathways, designed around the needs, passions, and strengths of each student. This structure has contributed to outstanding results, with Hunter Sports High consistently ranking among the most improved schools for the Higher School Certificate and showing significant growth in NAPLAN performance. Equally impressive is the school's wellbeing data, which sits above the state average across every measure, and 20 per cent higher in student connectedness and belonging. Congratulations once again to Hunter Sports High School on this well-deserved and historic achievement.
