Belmont's Country Women's Association

16 September 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)I wish a very happy eightieth birthday to the Belmont Branch of the Country Women's Association [CWA]. Since its formation in 1945, the Belmont Branch has been a constant source of support for women and families across Lake Macquarie. For eight decades members have combined friendship with service, creating a welcoming space for women to come together while also making a real difference in their community. The branch has played an instrumental role in local initiatives, from establishing the baby health centre in Belmont to supporting Allira House women's refuge, Ronald McDonald House and neonatal care at John Hunter Hospital. Their Craft & Friendship sessions also reflect the creativity and care that have become hallmarks of the CWA. Now based out of the Charlestown Uniting Church Hall, I am so proud of the wonderful work these women do for our community. I congratulate Belmont CWA on reaching this remarkable milestone. I thank them for their incredible contributions to our community.
