Bill Turner Cup Round One

08 May 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—After the completion of the first round of the 2025 Bill Turner Cup and Bill Turner Trophy tournaments, I am pleased to report that a number of Charlestown electorate schools have advanced to the second round. In the Newcastle/Upper Hunter area competition, two fantastic Charlestown schools faced off in the first round. Trinity Catholic College Adamstown emerged successful against Kotara High and will go on to face St Philips Waratah in round two. In the Lake Macquarie area competition of the Cup, the boys from Warners Bay High triumphed over West Wallsend and will go on to face Whitebridge High in round two, who advanced due to a bye. Since both schools are in the Charlestown electorate, I'm not sure who to root for—but wish them both all the best! The Newcastle/Lake Macquarie competition of the Bill Turner Trophy saw the girls from four Charlestown schools proceed to the second round, with teams from Trinity, Warners Bay, Whitebridge and Kotara progressing. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and supporters for their involvement in this fantastic tradition of sportsmanship and I wish them all the best for the competition!
