Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—In February 1924, the Kahibah Progress Association applied to authorities for recreation land. The Association was granted six acres: volunteers cleared the land, named Charlestown Oval, and in 1925 the Kahibah Football Club was born. The Rams entered a team in fourth grade in 1926 and now, as the Club approaches its centenary, Kahibah FC is going stronger than ever, fielding sixty-five teams from under-fives all the way up to Northern League One. The Club's rolls are full of well-known names: A-League veterans; NNSW NPL mainstays; and renowned off-pitch talent. In the late 1930s, Ernie "Smoke" Screen was a local legend of the game. Today, Josie Allan and Noah James currently play for the Jets—and Gema Simon is a Jets alumni who took to the field eleven times for the Matildas. Kahibah FC also has a strong community arm, and they're such an important part of the Charlestown electorate. On 3 May, they will celebrate with a gala ball and reveal a team of the century. My congratulations to the Rams on a hundred years of the beautiful game, and here's to many more.
