Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—This weekend, Central Newcastle Rugby League Football Club hosted their annual Ladies Day as part of the NRL Women in League Round, shining a spotlight on the incredible women who are part of the game. From the Butcher Birds women's team to the many coaches, volunteers, supporters and families behind the scenes, women are the heart of the club. Their passion, commitment and contributions help make Central a strong, connected and vibrant sporting community. Ladies Day is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the essential role women play in rugby league and to continue building a sporting environment where everyone feels supported and included. When women and girls are given the platform to lead, play and be recognised, it strengthens the game for everyone. Events like this ensure that rugby league continues to grow as a sport that welcomes and reflects the whole community. Clubs like Central are leading by example, creating opportunities for women, and helping to build a sporting culture that values fairness, representation and the contributions of women at every level. Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication to equality, community and the future of rugby league.
