Charlestown SES Volunteers

25 March 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—Volunteers make up such an important part of the community, contributing their time and energy to help others—nowhere is this dedication and commitment more apparent than in the NSW State Emergency Service. I am proud that so many SES volunteers recognised at a recent awards ceremony at the Wallsend Diggers Club are residents of the Charlestown electorate. Christine Speer of Hillsborough collected the Commissioner's Commendation for Service, while Michael Willing of Merewether secured the Commissioner's Unit Citation following the Northern Rivers flood event in February and March 2022. John Robertshaw of Tingira Heights and Jennifer Conrad of Warners Bay each received both a National Medal and a 15-Year Long Service Award. William Knight of Cardiff South received a 20-Year Long Service Award. David Alderton of Charlestown received a 15-Year Long Service Award. Charlestown electorate local Brittany Palmer received a 10-Year Long Service Award. These recipients represent the best of the SES and have demonstrated time and time again their bravery, dedication and selflessness. My congratulations and thanks to them all, to their fellow recipients and to all the SES volunteers in the Charlestown electorate and around the state.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
