Doug Marr

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Doug Marr for his remarkable creativity, generosity and commitment to giving back to the community. Drawing on his background as a tradesperson, Doug has turned his hands-on skills into some of the most impressive cosplay creations in the country. His large-scale, wearable exoskeleton suits, inspired by popular culture including the Fallout video game series, showcase an incredible level of craftsmanship. Each piece is carefully engineered using a mix of foam, metal, 3D-printed components and custom electronics to balance durability, movement and detail. Doug's work extends far beyond visual impact. Through auctions of custom-made helmets, props and one-off builds, he has helped raise nearly $300,000 for charity, supporting organisations such as Cure Cancer Australia and Four Paws. What began as a personal passion has grown into a meaningful way to help others. Doug has since established the Wasteland Collective, bringing together makers from across Australia and New Zealand to collaborate on charity projects. Through his creativity and generosity, Doug is building a legacy he can be proud of and setting a powerful example for his children and the wider community.
