Fire and Rescue Open Day

14 May 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—On Saturday 10 May, Cardiff and Tingira Heights Fire Stations proudly opened their doors as part of Fire and Rescue NSW's annual Open Day, giving locals a chance to step inside the stations and meet the people who help keep our community safe. It was a fantastic day out for families, with plenty to see and do. Visitors were able to tour the stations, climb aboard the fire trucks, watch interactive equipment demonstrations, and learn important home fire safety tips—all while enjoying a classic sausage sizzle. Events like these are a great way for the community to connect with our local firies. It is easy to think of firefighters as only responding in times of crisis, but they do so much more. They are educators, role models, and everyday heroes who are always ready to lend a hand. The openness and enthusiasm shown by the teams at Cardiff and Tingira Heights made the day extra special. A heartfelt thank you to all the firefighters involved for welcoming the community so warmly and for everything you do year-round. Your dedication, professionalism and kindness are deeply appreciated by everyone in our community.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
