Grandparent's Day

14 November 2024

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—NSW Grandparents Day is all about celebrating the special role grandparents and grand-friends play in our lives. It's a time to share special moments, laughter, and fun with the people who bring so much warmth and wisdom to our families. I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful event at the Windale Library Hub, where local grandparents and their grandchildren gathered for a musical performance and afternoon tea. Together, we sang songs, enjoyed a story time reading Where is the Green Sheep?, and were treated to a beautiful performance by a cellist and flutist. This event was made possible by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and Lake Macquarie Libraries, and I want to extend my thanks to everyone who helped bring this day to life. And of course, thank you to all the grandparents who came along. Your smiles, stories, and laughter made the day truly unforgettable!

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
