Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to recognise the Hunter Region Cat Club for hosting the region's first ever Cat Show, held on 11 October at the PCYC Lake Macquarie in Windale. The inaugural event brought together cat enthusiasts from across the Hunter to celebrate their love of felines, featuring an impressive range of breeds on display and in competition. With so many beautiful cats in the main arena, the judges certainly had a difficult task selecting the best in show. The day also included stallholders, special guest speakers, and local rescue organisations such as Nine Lives Cat Rescue and FIP Cats Australia, who showcased kittens and cats looking for their forever homes. Their involvement helped highlight the importance of responsible pet ownership and the role that local rescue groups play in supporting animal welfare. The success of this first Hunter Region Cat Club show marks an exciting milestone for the local community of cat lovers, providing an opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate their passion for animals and support local rescue efforts.
