Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Jill Stuart on being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for her extraordinary contribution to people living with disability and to volunteer service across the Hunter region. Jill has been a tireless advocate for people with cerebral palsy since the early 1960s, following her son's diagnosis. She went on to co-found the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Hunter Branch and played a pivotal role in establishing the Stuart Centre at Croudace Bay, which remains the organisation's longest-running therapy centre. Over more than 60 years of volunteering, Jill has helped improve access to services for countless individuals and families. Her work has included fundraising, grant writing, securing funding, clearing land, planting trees and building community support from the ground up. Jill's service has been widely recognised, including being named Hunter Senior Volunteer of the Year in 2024 and receiving the NSW Volunteer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025. Now aged 90, Jill continues to inspire with her simple philosophy of "just keep going". Her legacy is one of compassion, perseverance and lasting impact, and her OAM is a fitting recognition of a lifetime dedicated to improving the lives of others.
