Jo Gomboso

04 February 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Jo Gomboso for her remarkable commitment to raising funds and awareness for cancer research through her ongoing participation in Tour de Cure. For the fifth year, Jo has dedicated herself to Tour de Cure's signature ride, a journey of more than 1,000 kilometres undertaken with purpose and heart. Each year, every kilometre Jo commits is in honour of her late husband, Steven Gomboso, with whom she once shared a love of cycling. Following Steven's lung cancer diagnosis in 2018, the couple planned to ride together in 2022, motivated by a belief in giving back to the research that had supported Steven's treatment. Tragically, Steven passed away before they could take part together, yet Jo has continued the ride in his memory. This year, Jo will take part in the March Signature Tour from Canberra to Hobart as part of the support crew following a recent hip replacement. She is joined by her children, with James Parker cycling and Ellen Parker supporting the team. Jo has already raised $5,000 this year and continues to work towards strengthening cancer research.
