Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Kahibah Football Club for its commitment to growing opportunities for girls and women in football ahead of the upcoming season. Kahibah Football Club has played an important role in supporting the introduction of a new two-grade women's zone football league, designed to sit between the National Premier Leagues Women and existing all-age competitions. This new league fills a long-standing gap in the football pathway, providing a well-structured environment for female players seeking a higher level of competition without moving straight into all-age leagues. With the club securing a National Premier Leagues Women licence, Kahibah has identified the women's zone league as a vital step in building clear and sustainable pathways for elite female athletes. The club currently supports four Junior Development League girls teams aged nine to 12, and in 2026 will field Premier Youth League girls teams in the 13s, 15s and 17s age groups for the first time. This expansion creates opportunities for girls to continue their love of the sport while remaining with their local club. Kahibah Football Club's investment in girls' and women's football is strengthening participation and development, setting a positive example for clubs across the region.
