Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)- The Lake Mac Awards celebrate the best of our community, and I was thrilled to see many Charlestown locals among the 2025 nominees. I congratulate Dr Alyce Barnes, who was named both Lake Mac Ambassador and Sports Leader. Dr Barnes is a University of Newcastle researcher whose work focuses on improving physical activity levels among girls and women. She has led transformative programs such as Daughters and Dads Active and Empowered, and Physical Activity for Everyone. It was a pleasure to meet Dr Barnes at the awards and again at the Fernleigh Track Taking Back Our Paths event, where she continued to champion women's health, safety and inclusion in public spaces. In Charlestown we are incredibly fortunate to have community leaders like Dr Barnes, who is driving change and inspiring others.
