Lake Mac Awards Leadership Nominees

20 March 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—The Lake Mac Awards celebrate the best and brightest of the Lake Macquarie City community, and I am pleased to report that many of the 2025 nominees are local to the Charlestown electorate. It is so inspirational to learn about the incredible achievements of the nominees across all thirteen categories, especially the Charlestown electorate-based nominees in the leadership and volunteering categories. The Groundswell Collective, an organisation dedicated to building a connected, thriving and sustainable Lake Macquarie, led a program to plant a Tiny Forest at St Paul's Primary School, Gateshead, in 2024 has been nominated Lake Mac Environmental Leader. Red Cross volunteer mainstay Sandra Collins of Warners Bay, youth worker and twenty-year SES Long Service Award recipient William Knight of Cardiff South and fifteen-year SES Long Service Award and SES National Medal recipient John Robertshaw of Tingira Heights have been nominated for Volunteer of the Year. My congratulations to the nominees and I wish them all the best!

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
