Lake Mac Awards Sports Nominees

20 March 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—The Lake Mac Awards celebrate the best and brightest of the Lake Macquarie City community, and I am pleased to report that many of the 2025 nominees are residents of the Charlestown electorate. It is so inspirational to learn about the incredible achievements of the nominees across all thirteen categories, especially the Charlestown electorate-based nominees in the sports categories: Lake Mac Sports Star and Lake Mac Sports Leader. Nineteen-year-old athlete Jemma Pollard of Whitebridge and thirty-two year old elite trampoline gymnast Shaun Swadling of Tingira Heights are nominated for Lake Mac Sports Star alongside triathlete John Domandl of Eleebana, who is also nominated in the Outstanding Contributor with Disability. Dr Alyce Barnes of Dudley, a senior research assistant based at the University of Newcastle's School of Medicine and Public Health with a background in physical education, and Laraine Dunn of Eleebana, a business owner and mentor in the fitness industry with a lifetime of experience, have been nominated for Lake Mac Sports Leader. My congratulations to the nominees and I wish them all the best!
