Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—From May 16 to 18, Lake Macquarie came alive with literary inspiration as the Write Here Festival brought together some of Australia's finest authors and emerging voices for three unforgettable days. Organised by Lake Macquarie City Council, the festival welcomed readers, writers and lovers of storytelling from across the region. The festival offered a wide range of workshops, author talks and unique literary experiences. Highlights included Tom Keneally in conversation with Scott Bevan, a must-see discussion with one of Australia's most celebrated authors. Graeme Simsion, bestselling author of The Rosie Project, also shared insights into his writing journey. Attendees set sail with Magdalena Ball for a floating writing workshop, while Reece Hignell and Jennifer Wong explored the connection between food, culture and storytelling. Fans of suspense enjoyed a compelling crime writing panel featuring Michael Robotham, Darcy Tindale and Jaye Ford. The festival created a welcoming and engaging space for people of all ages and interests to connect through stories, ideas and creativity. Thank you to Lake Macquarie City Council for supporting our region's literary culture and providing a platform that celebrates the joy and power of the written word.
