Leonie Gordon

22 October 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to recognise Leonie Gordon for the remarkable milestone of having experienced five living generations in her family not once, but twice in her lifetime. Leonie first reached this milestone in 1980, when her firstborn daughter Emma became part of five living generations that included Leonie's great-grandfather, grandmother, mother, and herself. It was a treasured family moment that reflected the deep bonds and shared history connecting generations. 45 years later, in 2025, Leonie has once again found herself part of a five-generation family, with the arrival of Emma's grandson, Hugo. The generational line now includes Hugo's great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother Leonie, grandmother Emma, father Lachlan, and baby Hugo. To have witnessed this remarkable occurrence twice is an achievement few can claim. It stands as a testament to the enduring strength of Leonie's family and the lasting connections that tie each generation together. Her story is a wonderful example of the continuity, resilience, and shared history that families build over time.
