Local ANZAC Commemoration Services

09 May 2019

Anzac Day is a special day in which we remember those who have served in our armed forces during times of war and in peace keeping operations, and those who have supported the war effort from home shores.

This Anzac Day I was able to attend services at Dudley, Redhead and Kahibah each reflecting their own communities and the histories of those who have served. I want to congratulate the organisers of each of those Anzac Day ceremonies.

Today Id particularly like to acknowledge the efforts of the Adamstown ANZAC Committee for restoring the Adamstown Anzac Day Service, and for conducting an emotional and fitting 100th anniversary Remembrance Day on 11 November last year.

The Remembrance Day service was attended by over 500 people, who showed a great desire to honour service men and women, both past and present.

A special mention to Committee President Gerard Williams for the work he has led the committee through in past ceremonies and especially in the relocation of the war memorial to Adamstown No1 Oval, which is hoped to be completed by Remembrance Day this year.

Lest We Forget.
