Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Loki Liddle and his band Selve for an extraordinary achievement that has made history. Selve recently recorded their second album, Breaking into Heaven, at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios in London. In the studio's 94-year history, it has never before recorded an Indigenous Australian artist, making this milestone especially significant. Loki, a proud Jabirr Jabirr man and a local of our area who attended New Lambton Public School, is the lead singer, front man and songwriter for Selve. His words and music form the heart of the band's indie-pop sound, brought to life by a talented six-piece ensemble. Recording at Abbey Road was about more than entering an exclusive space. It was about using one of the most iconic music studios in the world to platform a First Nations story and to share that story with a global audience. This is both an artistic and cultural achievement, showing the power of music to cross boundaries and create lasting impact. Congratulations to Loki Liddle and Selve on this remarkable accomplishment and on the inspiration they provide to young artists in our region and beyond.
