Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—On Saturday 25 October, Natalia Hogan will take on an extraordinary challenge, running 170 kilometres from Sydney to Newcastle in a powerful and deeply personal journey she has called Running Home. The initiative will raise funds for the Samaritans through a partnership with We Are Mobilise, supporting people experiencing homelessness. Natalia's connection to the Samaritans is deeply personal. At just 14 years old, she experienced homelessness, finding herself too old to return to foster care but too young to secure her own rental. After years of instability, she was given her first safe and stable place to live through the Samaritans' Student Accommodation program. This support allowed her to finish high school, begin university, and build the foundations for the life she leads today. Now 24 years old and preparing to graduate with a degree in physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle, Natalia is determined to give back to the organisation she credits with changing her life. Her goal is to raise $122,000, symbolising one dollar for every person experiencing homelessness in Australia. Congratulations to Natalia Hogan on this remarkable initiative and the inspiration she provides through her courage and determination.
