Newcastle Toy Library

20 February 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—This weekend, Newcastle Toy Library are celebrating the incredible milestone of 50 years of service! The Newcastle Toy Library has grown from a specialist library dedicated to children with disabilities, to a thriving service available to all children from 0 to 8 years, with over 300 members. Based under New Lambton Library, the Newcastle Toy Library is a not for profit, volunteer run organisation where parents, grandparents and community members help out each Saturday morning when they are open. For a low-cost annual membership fee, the Newcastle Toy Library has over 1500 active toys, STEM toys, sensory toys, construction toys, imaginative toys, and beginnings toys that children can borrow for a party, for education, or just to play with at home. This is a fantastic service for our community, offering our local children the opportunity to learn responsibility and independence through borrowing, and families the ability to rotate through a variety of toys, affordably. Congratulations to Newcastle Toy Library and thank you to all who have been involved in the vital role of assisting families from all backgrounds with affordable access to quality toys, games and puzzles over the last 50 years!
