Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I'd like to congratulate New Lambton Public School's Wafiq Ayyash and Dudley Public School's Kyrie Santos, who were finalists at the 2025 NSW Premier's Spelling Bee. This year, almost 200,000 students across New South Wales participated in the program, which encourages a love of spelling, vocabulary and literacy. To progress through school, regional and state levels and reach the finals is an exceptional achievement for both students. The finals were held at the Q Theatre in Penrith, bringing together some of the strongest young spellers in the state. Wafiq returned to the competition after winning last year's junior division, once again showcasing his skill, confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Kyrie also performed incredibly well, representing Dudley Public School with pride and demonstrating impressive focus on stage. Their achievements reflect not only their own hard work, but also the support offered by their teachers, families and school communities. Programs like the Premier's Spelling Bee play an important role in building literacy skills and giving students the chance to challenge themselves in a positive and encouraging environment. I congratulate Wafiq and Kyrie on reaching the finals and wish them every success in their future learning.
