Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—In Windale, community organisations are coming together through a new partnership between PCYC Lake Macquarie, OzHarvest and Arise Community Support to provide food relief, essential items and new opportunities for local residents. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the three organisations have united to support people in need by improving access to nutritious food and vital resources. Through the Fit for Life program, PCYC and OzHarvest ensure young people start their day with a healthy breakfast before school. The program combines physical activity and mentorship to help build confidence, resilience and positive daily habits. Support also extends to people of all ages and backgrounds who are seeking food relief. OzHarvest's Nourish program offers free hospitality training for young people aged 16 to 25, leading to a nationally recognised Certificate II in Cookery. Graduates gain practical skills, friendships and pathways to employment or further study. When a young person is in need, Arise Community Support works alongside PCYC to provide clothing, shoes and other essentials, helping them feel supported and valued within the community. It's wonderful to see community partnerships like this strengthening connections and making a real difference in the lives of local residents.
A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
