Public Education Awards 2025

08 August 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to congratulate the recipients of this year's Public Education Awards, a wonderful way to begin Public Education Week and to recognise the outstanding achievements within our local public schools. These awards celebrate the dedication, innovation and excellence demonstrated by students, teachers and school communities across New South Wales. From Hunter Sports High School, Patrick Innes and Tori Adamson have each received the Minister's Award for Excellence in Student Achievement, acknowledging their commitment to learning and contribution to their school community. Megan McCarthy, also from Hunter Sports High School, has been recognised with the Minister's Award for Excellence in Teaching for her dedication to educational excellence and student growth. The Secretary's Award for Outstanding School Achievement has been awarded to two remarkable initiatives. Hunter Sports High School received recognition for their Future Focused Personalised Learning program, while Whitebridge High School was acknowledged for the Wiyellai Koa Community of Schools, which brings schools together to strengthen outcomes and celebrate the value of collaboration in public education. These awards are a reflection of the incredible work happening in our public schools every day. Congratulations to all recipients for their exceptional contributions to education.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
