SES Northern Zone Cluster Awards 2026

12 February 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to congratulate the dedicated volunteers who were recognised at the 2026 SES Northern Zone Cluster Awards on 10 February, and to acknowledge their outstanding service to our community. From the Newcastle SES Unit, Michael Willing was honoured with a 10 Year Long Service Award, recognising a decade of commitment to supporting the community in times of emergency. Douglas Jones, Stephen Patterson and Ian Robinson were each recognised for their service during the 2019–2020 bushfires, receiving the National Emergency Medal in acknowledgement of their contribution during such a challenging time. From the Lake Macquarie SES Unit, Victor Weller received a 15 Year Long Service Award and the National Medal, marking his sustained and dedicated service over many years. Christine Speer was also recognised with the National Emergency Medal for her role during the 2019–2020 bushfire response. These awards reflect the courage, professionalism and quiet dedication of SES volunteers who give their time to protect others. Whether responding to bushfires, storms or other emergencies, their work strengthens the resilience and safety of our communities. I extend my sincere congratulations and thanks to each recipient for their service and commitment.
