Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—My congratulations to Mr Thomas Gustard of Eleebana, on being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to rugby league as a referee as part of the Australia Day Honours. Thomas served in a range of roles with the New South Wales Country Rugby League Referees Association from 1957 until 1993, including on the executive as deputy chairman, vice president, and chairman of the coaching panel. He was made a life member in 1980. Mr Gustard was involved with Newcastle Rugby League Referees Association from 1957 until 1988, serving as president from 1985 to 1988, and referred fourteen grand finals, an interstate match between NSW and Queensland, and even international matches in Papua New Guinea. Thomas served with the New South Wales Rugby League Referees between 1971 and 1991, as well. Outside of rugby league, he worked for NSW Transport from 1951 until 2019, and served in the Royal Australian Navy and Navy Reserves. Congratulations on this well‑earned honour, Mr Gustard.
