Tribute to Terrance John MacMillan Bryden

04 February 2026

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—With great sorrow, I bring to the attention of this place the passing of Terrance John MacMillan Bryden on Monday 5 January following a courageous battle with throat cancer. Born in 1942, Terry was a devoted family man and a tireless contributor to his community. He loved the Central Newcastle Rugby League Football Club; the Butcher Boys and Butcher Birds; the Central Leagues Club at Charlestown; his motorbikes; good food; and, above all, his wife, Toni, his children and grandchildren. A longtime member of the Central Leagues Club, Terry served on the board for nine years and held many roles across the Central Newcastle Rugby League Football Club, receiving life membership of both clubs. I had the great pleasure of knowing Terry through the Butcher Boys. Less than two years ago, Terry combined his love of motorcycle riding with fundraising for prostate cancer research and men's mental health through the Newcastle Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. He was a wonderful person. Vale, Terry Bryden, forever a Butcher Boy.
