Warners Bay Landcare

09 September 2025

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)—I would like to recognise Warners Bay Landcare, which has recently celebrated 25 years of active service to our community. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of volunteers who have given their time and energy to protecting and enhancing the natural environment around Warners Bay. The group was first established after a community meeting for the Cleaner Waterways for Warners Bay Project on 20 December 1999. Since then, Warners Bay Landcare has focused on helping the community manage the three catchments of North Creek, Warners Creek and South Creek. Their work has involved protecting and, where necessary, rehabilitating the riparian zones of these creeks. This effort has created wildlife corridors, supported biodiversity and reduced adverse impacts on Lake Macquarie. Equally important has been their commitment to educating the community, ensuring that future generations are equipped with the knowledge to care for our local environment. The 25-year anniversary is both a celebration of environmental outcomes and a recognition of the passion and teamwork of volunteers. Congratulations to Warners Bay Landcare on this extraordinary milestone and for the valuable contribution they continue to make to our region.
